The Rural Municipality of Thompson and the Miami Fire and Rescue Services, are pleased to announce a joint project to improve and ensure the safety of our residents. Recent events in our area have highlighted the importance of having smoke detectors. As a result, Council for the Rural Municipality of Thompson has decided to offer each household in the Municipality a free smoke detector. The Miami Fire Department has graciously agreed to coordinate the distribution, installation and inspection of these detectors to anyone interested in participating in this venture. You may also purchase additional detectors from the municipal office at a cost of $10.00 per detector if you wish. This project is in line to the Miami Fire and Rescue’s prevention strategies and the municipalities concerns for all of our residents.
Should you wish to receive one of the smoke alarms and have it installed, please contact the municipal office and have your name and address added to the list as soon as possible.
If you would like to have your current smoke alarm inspected and serviced, please indicate that to the municipal office at your earliest convenience.
